We are 3 weeks deep in our run now and I just have to say, I’m having a blast! Yes, it’s tiring and the most challenging role I’ve ever had the opportunity to play, but damn it’s a good time! I’m going to be fighting off some post-pardon blues when we close the curtain on this show, but for now, let me relish in the glory!

This past Friday was especially thrilling because of the amazing review Tom Titus gave us in the Daily Post.

Our practiced director delivers “the most accomplished local community theatre effort of the year”! Michael Keeney has a fearsome presence as the character Roat. Geoffrey Varga gives heart to his thug character, Mike Talman, with natural interpretation. Stephen Saatjian, as Carlino, typifies the dangerous street thug skillfully. My endearing husband, Chris Utley, plays an effective loving yet demanding mate. And I deliver a “starkly radiant performance” in any actress’ dream role. My “cool and rational moments give way to stark terror”, which I “enact superbly”. A review like this is well deserved for a cast and crew that has worked so hard since September. When I first started rehearsing this show, I was plagued with anxiety. Will I pull it off? Do I have the chops to carry a show? Will they believe that my character is blind? This play is more complex than I thought, will I be able to sort it all out so that it makes sense to me? How am I going to remember all these lines? Will I be able to construct the emotional roller coaster this character goes on, and will I be able to deliver an honest performance every night? Holy crap, I get no break in this show; once I’m on stage, I never leave! Ah, well, I guess that’s what 6 weeks of rehearsals are for! I have totally risen to the challenge and am just so happy to be busy with this show. This is a time in my life that I will never forget! (Now, how do I figure out how to make a living at this so I can quit my day job?) Buy tix now! Nov 12 - Dec 13 at Newport Theatre Arts Center. $15-$20.
