I played Doreen
Written by Carol Churchill, this absurd, experimental play, based on the Euripides tradgey The Bacchea, touches on themes of possession and violence. Each character is possessed by a an uncontrollable force and is faced with the ugly consequences.
My character is riddled with rage so scary that she tries to bottle it up, but unfortunately it finds its way out via poltergeists and telekinesis. Doors slam, various things fly across the room, people are injured, meanwhile, poor Doreen is completely overcome with this alter ego that she cannot escape. Suicide is her only option, but a good friend saves her in the end.
