My Broadway Stage Debut!!!
I was asked to sing back up for Raul Esparza for the final song in this
year's Easter Bonnet Competition, which took place on Lion King's stage, The
Minskoff Theatre!!
Some people from the cast of The Producers had sung "Help Is On The Way" in a cabaret performance this past year, and so when it was announced that Company's Raul Esparza was going to sing this song (which is sung every year by a Star Name), they were asked to sing back-up. They needed one more woman, and since my friend Aron Acurso was musically directing this piece, he asked me to join the cast! I was Beyond Excited!!
I met Aron at BMI, he's a very talented, up and coming composer. He's making his Broadway debut in Disney's Little Mermaid. I'm so excited for him! He'll be playing the piano with the orchestra in the pit. He is also playing for all the rehearsals and auditions. He mentioned that he'd help me out with connections if he ever had an opportunity, and he did!

It may not sound like a big deal to some of you, but for ME... I was overwhelmed with JOY just to be on a Broadway stage! Only one other time in my life have I sung on a Bway stage, and that was 7 years ago at a Cats chorus call. They actually had the audition ON the stage. Anyway, I stood behind Raul, making damn sure I was lit by that spot light, I held my microphone, and just sung my little heart out, and looked out to the audience with stars in my eyes and this feeling in my heart that I WILL make my dream of being in a Broadway show a reality!!!! I know, I know, I sound like such a sap, but I'm just so grateful to even have a big dream like this!
