Moments
I was cast in the role of Beth in a musical version of Little Women. It
was a fantastic show. We almost went to Broadway with it, but there was another
original production of Little Women who stole our thunder.
Anyway, we recorded the cast album, and this is my solo song. It's the song I sing to Jo right before I die of Scarlet Fever. It's my swan song.
Anyway, I wanted to post this song not only because I think it is very beautiful, but also because I have a close connection with this song. A few months before I recorded this, my good friend from high school, Cindy Kim, passed away. Needless to say, she was on my mind as I sang this song because it's all about death and letting go.
Something spiritual happened to me in that recording booth. I believe Cindy was there with me because the words that were coming out of my mouth felt like they were coming from her. She was comforting me, telling me it's ok to let go.
I recorded that song in one take with no punches. (To "punch " something means to rewind and punch in on a spot in the song that you want to re-record). So what you're about to hear was the first and only take which was recoded live ... while I was having a spiritual connection with my long lost good buddy.....
Listen to the song...
